Stamford's Saturday Market Didn't End for the Season. It Moved Indoors to Town Center.

The Stamford Downtown Farmers Market had its last outdoor Saturday of 2026 on October 10 at Veterans Memorial Park, 130 Atlantic Street, after running 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday since June 13. The next Saturday, October 17, a weekly market opened at the same hours downtown, inside Stamford Town Center at 100 Greyrock Place. Stamford's Saturday-morning market used to stop when the weather turned. This year it just moved indoors.

Same Hours, a Roof, and a First Season

It's called the Stamford Community Marketplace, and 2026 is its first year. According to the New England Artisan Network event listing, this first season runs every Saturday from October 17, 2026, through January 30, 2027, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and admission is free. Mallory Brook Farm, Inc. created and produces it.

The same listing explains why the vendor lineup changes from week to week. Vendors can sign up for single Saturdays and don't have to commit to the whole season, and the organizers screen applications for product quality and category balance. The booth you liked last week may not be back this week, and someone new may be in its place.

Hey Stamford's kickoff announcement named the confirmed vendors, and the list covers more than produce:

  • Farm and pantry: Amelia's Florist & Farm Markets & Sandwiches for seasonal produce, flowers and specialty sandwiches; Murphy's Mushrooms; Planet Bee Apiary for honey and beeswax; Hathor Hill Farm
  • Baked goods: Food for the Soul by LR for scratch-made sourdough; Liquid Bliss Vegan Delights for organic vegan treats; Crumbs & Comfort by Nicole for cookies, brownies and sourdough muffins
  • Coffee, tea and a hot lunch: On The Brew Coffee Company, Hollyou Tea and Amazing Momo
  • Gifts: BodhiLuna and Cuff and Bangle for jewelry and accessories; Anam Quilting LLC for quilted gifts and home goods; Nature's Root to Wellness

Getting this far into the fall used to take some driving. The Sunday Farm Market at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Knobloch Family Farmhouse parking lot at 151 Scofieldtown Road, and its season ends November 1. The Harbor Point Farmers Market ran Sundays from July 12 to September 13. Once the museum market closes, the Town Center market is the only scheduled weekly market on this list still running through December and January.

Why the Mall Was Ready for It

Putting a farmers market in a mall would have looked strange in Stamford a few years ago. It makes sense now because of what Stamford Town Center has turned into.

Westfair Communications profiled the mall in December 2025. It reported that when general manager Dan Stolzenbach took over leasing at the 761,000-square-foot center in 2020, the food court was nearly empty, the restaurant plaza had only three restaurants, and few families were walking the halls. Many retailers had moved to the SoNo Collection after it opened in Norwalk in October 2019. According to Westfair, the plan that followed brought in tenants built around activities and food:

"What we have done, somewhat out of necessity, we kind of lucked out with Pickleball America," Stolzenbach told Westfair. "We were the first mall in America to sign a pickleball deal."

Pickleball America, later joined by Padel America, took over the space Saks Off 5th had left. The restaurant plaza filled back up with tenants such as Terra Gaucha and Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings, and one of the indoor seating areas became La Picante. Westfair reported that the fourth floor turned into what the mall calls a "floor of lands," with Angel Land and its roller rink. The same article counted 95 tenants, a mix of national names like Macy's and Barnes & Noble and small local shops such as Stamford Skate Shop and Hey Stamford! The Store.

The mall's current directories still list Nan Xiang, La Picante, Terra Gaucha, Angel Land, Roller Land, Padel America and New York Comedy Club. Shinjuku Station Revolving Sushi Bar, which Hey Stamford reported in April was headed for a summer 2026 opening, is still listed on the mall's dining page as "Opening Soon."

A weekly market of local bakers, farmers and makers is the same idea at a smaller scale. The mall has been bringing people in for things to do and things to eat, and a Saturday market is both. Hey Stamford's announcement makes the connection directly, inviting market shoppers up to its own store on the fourth floor.

How the Season Lines Up

The indoor market's first season is about as long as the outdoor one. Downtown ran 17 Saturdays at Veterans Memorial Park, from June 13 to October 10, with July 4 off. The Town Center schedule lists 16 Saturdays, from October 17 to January 30. That means Stamford has a Saturday market for most of the year now, with no gap between the two.

The indoor dates also fall on some of the busiest weekends on Stamford's calendar:

Date Stamford Town Center Elsewhere in Stamford
Sat., Oct. 31 Marketplace, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Mill River Park Halloween Party, 3–5 p.m.
Sun., Nov. 1 No market Final Sunday Farm Market of the season at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Fri., Nov. 6 Santa's Grand Arrival Pajama Party, 5–8 p.m., per the mall's events page
Sat., Nov. 21 Marketplace, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Giant Balloon Inflation Party, Hoyt Street at Summer Street, 3–6 p.m.
Sun., Nov. 22 Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular, noon–2 p.m.
Sat., Nov. 28 Holiday Bazaar begins
Sat., Dec. 5, 12, 19 Holiday Bazaar Saturdays
Sat., Jan. 30 Final market of the inaugural season

Two of those weekends make for an easy pairing. On Halloween, the market wraps up at 1 p.m., two hours before Mill River Park's free Halloween Party begins with trunk-or-treat, a trick-or-treat trail and a carousel finale. On November 21, the market morning comes before the Giant Balloon Inflation Party on Hoyt Street, where Stamford Downtown says the giant balloons are inflated the night before the parade, with live music, performances and an appearance by Santa. The Parade Spectacular follows on Sunday, November 22, from noon to 2 p.m.

The Holiday Bazaar starts on November 28, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and runs every Saturday through December 19, which turns the market into a source of local holiday gifts for the four weekends before Christmas. Holiday Wish Express is back at Stamford Town Center on select dates in November and December 2026, and Hey Stamford reports that guests choose an admission time when they book. A December Saturday can now include the market, a timed holiday attraction and lunch on the restaurant plaza without leaving the building.

What the Calendar Still Leaves Open

The published season ends January 30, 2027. The downtown market's 2026 season started June 13, so there's a stretch of late winter and spring with no market dates posted yet. Since vendors can sign up for single Saturdays, a good stretch of attendance in November and December will show whether local producers want to keep coming to an indoor Stamford market after the holidays.

For now, the routine holds. Saturday morning, 9 to 1, a farmer's table, a sourdough loaf and a coffee from On The Brew. From now through January 30, all of it is inside, at 100 Greyrock Place.

At Jackie Davis & Team, we follow how Stamford's weekends change with the seasons, from a market moving indoors to a mall rebuilding itself around local businesses, because those changes shape how a neighborhood feels to the people who live there.
